Have you ever heard the phrase bigger is better? Well it’s true. I know playing small can sometimes feel safe, comfortable, or sometimes feel like what is needed at that time. It’s sometimes the place where we feel good, like there’s no responsibilities, where you can’t fail. It’s a place where there’s not too much to live up to.
But it’s in the place of your bigness, of your greatness, of your most divine self, where the magic happens. That is where you make your mark, that is where you make an impact. Bigger is better because it’s more impactful and that’s how you change the world. Maybe you don’t believe you’re here to change the world, that’s fine. I’m here to tell you, you are! And I’m not going to stop believing that.
It is when you give yourself permission to step up into your bigness, it is when you give yourself permission to step up into your greatness that you find true fulfillment. It is only in the place of smallness that your disappointment, upset, frustration and the separation from yourself exists.
I too find myself regularly experiencing that voice that wants to stay small. Yet, every time I meet my potential it goes up, every time I meet again, it exceeds it expands. Our potential is infinite. I am always being invited to step up into my greatness more and more every moment. That is a never ending process. In that process it’s about how much we allow ourselves to say “I’m going to step up, I’m going to continue, I may not know how, but I know that I’m worth it.”
It is truly from that place that we will create the most impact and greatest change. It’s when you find yourself in that place of separation, that you can use the awareness of your dissonance to acknowledge the small one inside. Let the small one know you hear that it’s tired, it doesn’t want to do this all over again, for the 400th time. In doing so you connect to yourself. It’s from that awareness that you connect to ALL that you are and all you’re here to do. It is from that place of wholeness and acceptance that you will truly create change.
I know your mission here is huge! I know that myself and many of you are here to give amazing contributions to the world and we can’t do it from that place of smallness.
It’s time to step up. As Gandhi says, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Of course the world continues will continue to go on if you don’t step up into your purpose, but you’ll be dissatisfied and disappointed. That is no way to live. So ask yourself:
- What am I afraid of?
- What’s holding me back?
- Is it fear of disappointing someone or yourself if you fail?
- Is it fear of living up to the responsibility of what you feel your greatness might be?
Whatever comes forward when you answer those questions, love those parts of yourself. Let them know you hear them and continue to step up. The courage to honor your life’s calling is a great gift not every gives themselves, for more support check out, Stepping into your divine contribution: 3 rules to live by, a previous article on BKS.
It is time to step up and embrace your divinity and heartfelt calling because there’s people out there waiting for your medicine. There’re people waiting for what you have to offer and yes they may find it in some other way, at some other time, but it’s not the same, it’s not you, it doesn’t have that special gift that I know you’re here to bring.
Be you. Be bold. Be all of you. Step up. I’m with you, I’m doing it too, and we all get challenged but we’re doing it together as a community, so share your comments below. I’m curious to know what this brings up for you. I’m excited to live in that place of greatness with all of you, so thank you for all the ways that you say yes to yourself and to this life.
