I think my favorite type of reading at the moment has to do with the power of the mind and how to harness its full potential.
The theme I keep getting exposed to over and over again is how our feelings and thoughts are energy. And whatever thoughts we choose are creating a particular type of vibration that is either contributing to our sense of well-being or pushing us further away from it. YES. YES. YES. LOVE THIS.
So here we are, these entrepreneurs that have been gifted a life of creativity and independence and our minds are pretty much swimming daily with thoughts of just about everything, right? I am just wondering, though, how conscious we are of the balance ratio of our thoughts…For instance, how many are proactive versus reactive? How many are empowering or disempowering? How many uplift versus derail? And how many compliment the incredible path that we have chosen for ourselves and how many may push us away from that path?
Many of you are already pretty self-aware which is awesome. Congratulations. It can be an uncomfortable process but a necessary one, I believe. And for those of you are looking for more ideas on the matter this is what I have to share with you.
What I have found particularly useful over the past few years, is practicing the art of ‘checking in with my frequency’ at any moment in time. You know those ‘icky’ moments when you find yourself temporarily snowballing in thoughts that you just know aren’t serving you any good. That feeling of uneasiness that you can feel to start taking over your body. You know, the fuzzy head or shortened breath, lethargy, nervousness, funny stomach? I know we have all been there. Those are the moments I ask you to stop and just acknowledge your thoughts and become aware of your feelings. Let them flow and feel them. Acknowledge your unique frequency and state of mind at that point in time, then decide what you want to do with it, how long you want it to stay, or if there is another angle you hadn’t considered that would shift the discomfort. It’s at that moment in time that we get to choose our next set of thoughts. When it comes to balance, our thoughts fall under this lifestyle umbrella as well. It is essential to undergo a ‘feeling inventory’ as often as we can so we can properly evaluate if our thoughts are congruent with our life desires. Again, it’s all about balance, awareness and choice.
Before evolving into the woman I am now, I would cycle back and forth into a hole of mental despair. Without even being truly cognizant of the fact, I had been copying the mindsets and thoughts of those around me; chronically producing many disempowering feelings for myself. So it was at my lowest point that I did a massive feeling/belief inventory. I wrote down my most common thoughts and feelings down and WHOA! When it is on paper, it hits you straight in the face and in the mind. It is a huge reality check that has the power to completely change your life. Please understand that I am not saying negative feelings aren’t useful; they absolutely are. In fact, the negative feelings are ABSOLUTELY essential to have as human beings. They can be our greatest inner guide and motivation to change. Just check in with them and ask yourself if that’s where you want to stay. And if you realize you’re way off balance for the most part in terms of empowering thoughts, it might be time for a new set of thoughts.
